Online seminar 8 June – ‘Dimensions of power in humanitarian contexts’ with guest presentation by Michael Barnett.

The Norwegian Centre for Humanitarian Studies (NCHS) network invites you to the upcoming online seminar, Dimensions of Power in Humanitarian Contexts.’ This event will be held online on Tuesday 8 June from 14:30-16:30 (CEST – Oslo time) via Zoom.

This seminar will explore power structures in humanitarian contexts, including the localisation of humanitarian assistance, the influence of large corporations and the role of technology.

The opening session will feature a guest presentation by Michael Barnett, University Professor of International Affairs and Political Science at the George Washington University, titled ‘A Humanitarian Club: Power in the Humanitarian Architecture.’

The second session will include a panel of presentations from researchers Hanna Matt (University of Manchester), Sofie Henriksen (Danish Institute for International Studies and Copenhagen Business School), Emmanuel Viga (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and Isabelle Schläpfer(University of Bern).
